BROOKINGS – A car, firearms and jewellery had been stolen in a weekend housebreaking in Volga, in accordance with the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
The housebreaking and thefts had been reported at 2:56 p.m. Sunday and occurred someday between 3 p.m. Saturday and the time of the report Sunday, within the 700 block of East Fifth Street in Volga. Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring stated unknown particular person(s) forcibly entered the residence.
Taken had been a 2007 silver Ford Fusion, two 20-guage shotguns, one 12-guage shotgun, two .22 rifles, and jewellery.
“Deputies found sometime during the above dates, someone had entered the residence, stole five firearms, jewelry and a vehicle parked inside their garage,” Sebring reported.
“The suspect(s) then departed in the stolen vehicle. Deputies continued to search for the vehicle. While searching for the vehicle, they were alerted to its location approximately 1 mile away from the residence (where) the theft occurred, and it was returned to the owners. The total loss of the theft is still unknown at this time,” Sebring stated.
