Exhibits opening June 26 at Kenosha’s Anderson Arts Center | Entertainment

KENOSHA — New exhibits opening Sunday, June 26, at the Anderson Arts Center include abstract mixed media by Laura Lein-Svencner, plus shows by Carrie Ann Schumacher and solo shows by the winners of the 2021 Winter Juried Show: Kathy Kerner, George J. Miller, Christine B. Miller, Lewis Schultz and Roger Shule.

The Area Artists will feature solo shows by Schuyler Mason, Don Hinrichs and Paul Brnak.

A free opening reception for the shows is 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 26. Refreshments will be available.

The Anderson Arts Center’s main galleries will highlight Lein-Svencner, an artist from Darien, Ill.

Although she has studied drawing, printmaking, sculpture, book arts and the art of hand papermaking, it is the love of paper and design that call her attention.

In the 3-D gallery, multi-media artist Carrie Ann Schumacher showcases one-of-a-kind dresses made out of romance novels. The dresses are seductively beautiful, but due to the material from which they are created, unable to be worn. Completely without function, the artist said, the dresses represent how useless the feminine myths we have created are in real life.
