Junior Ray Amos, 76, a resident of Monterville, passed from this life Friday, June 17, 2022, at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital.

Junior was born Thursday, July 19, 1945, in Huttonsville, a son of the late Walter Ray Amos and Leona Ruth Lloyd.

On Dec. 20, 1975, in Montrose, he was married to the former Shirley Arlene Ware, who survives. They had celebrated 46 years of marriage.

Also left to cherish Junior’s memory are five children, Tammy Brady and husband, Mark, of Valley Bend, Susie Amos of Beverly, Angie Tacy of Dailey, Angie Amos of Pennsylvania and Shawn Skidmore of Dailey; two grandchildren, Eric Harris and Niccole Davis; three great-granddaughters, Aleigha, Brylee and Danielle; three brothers, Bobby Amos of Valley Bend, Donnie Amos and wife, Tina, of Pennsylvania, and Roger Amos of Beverly; five sisters, Louetta Cogar of Webster Springs, Helen Lewis and husband, John, of Beverly, Sharon Mallow and husband, Steve, of Huttonsville, Patsy Howell and husband, Mike, and Beverly Amos and husband, Rob, of Beverly; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Junior was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Skidmore; and two nephews, Randy Amos and Brad Amos.

Junior attended the schools of Randolph County. He had worked as a mechanic with D&R Trucking. Later, he was the owner and operator of the Chevron Station in Huttonsville and followed that as owner and operator of J&S Pawn Shop in Valley Head. He later retired from the Randolph County Board of Education, where he had driven school bus for 20 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he loved spending time with his great-granddaughters.

Junior’s request for cremation will be honored and memorial service will follow at a later date.

The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements for Junior Ray Amos.
