MUST-WATCH: Here comes your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man!

The latest Spider-Man film has entered the MUST-WATCH Top 10! It seems like a sure thing for the top spot, but there’s a lot of fantastic content entering the the Top 10 this week. You’ll have to keep reading to see what makes it up there!

Starting this week off with a return to everyone’s favourite medieval killer!

One of Netflix’s most successful shows, the second season of the Witcher sees monster hunter Geralt of Rivia (played by Henry Cavill of Man of Steel and Mission: Impossible – Fallout) and the crown princess Ciri (played by Freya Allan of Gunpowder Milkshake) finally travelling together after searching for other throughout the first season. They decide to head to Kaer Morhen, a safe stronghold for witchers across the land. Geralt decides to train Ciri in the ways of combat and magic, which might not work out just the way they expected. This also stars Anya Chalotra (from Wanderlust) as Yennefer, a sorceress who frequently teams up with Geralt.

Who Killed Marie-Josée?

Next up, let’s take a look at some Quebecois true crime!

Who Killed Marie-Josée? is a new docuseries about the murder of Quebecois model Marie-Josée Saint-Antoine. She was living in Manhattan when she was stabbed to death, back in 1982. This murder resulted in a 15 year investigation, that almost seemed to be at a dead end. But perhaps her killer was discovered after all.

Spider-Man: No Way Home

Now, it’s time for a trip into the multiverse!

Spider-Man: No Way Home is the latest film set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (or should we call it Multiverse now?). In this film, Peter Parker (played by Tom Holland from Cherry and the Lost City of Z) is panicking now that his secret identity is known to the world. He goes to Dr. Strange (played by Benedict Cumberbatch from the Power of the Dog), and asks him if he could cast a spell to make everyone forget Spider-Man’s secret identity. But the spell doesn’t quite work, and it instead brings in a bunch of people from the multiverse who know Spider-Man’s secret identity, including villains like Doctor Octopus (played by Alfred Molina from Promising Young Woman), and the Green Goblin (payed by Willem Dafoe from Antichrist). This film may bring in a few other surprise characters too…

This film has set several pandemic box office records, and you can watch it in cinemas now!


The Hand of God

Next, it’s time for a trip to Italy!

The Hand of God is the latest film from acclaimed Italian filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino (who directed the Great Beauty, the Young Pope, and the New Pope). It won the Grand Jury Prize at the Venice International Film Festival this year, one of the festival’s highest awards. It’s about a teenage boy called Fabietto (played by newcomer Filippo Scotti) living in Naples. He spends his days wandering the city, listening to music and dreaming of the day he can attend college to study philosophy. But one day, a tragedy strikes his family, and he’s forced to grow up earlier than expected. This also stars famous Italian actor Toni Servillo (also from the Great Beauty and Loro) as Fabietto’s father.

Nightmare Alley

Lastly, a remake of a classic noir from one of the world’s best contemporary filmmakers!

Nightmare Alley is a remake of a film from the 1940s starring Tyrone Power (from the Mark of Zorro and Marie Antoinette). His role is now played by Bradley Cooper (from the Hangover and A Star is Born), and this latest adaptation is directed by Guillermo del Toro (who directed the Oscar-winning the Shape of Water and Pan’s Labyrinth). He plays a carny who becomes fascinated by the act of Madame Zeena (played by Toni Collette of Little Miss Sunshine and Hereditary), who appears to be able to read people’s minds. Teaming up with another carny (played by Rooney Mara of Carol and A Ghost Story), he learns Zeena’s method and becomes a big celebrity. But everything changes when a psychiatrist (played by Cate Blanchett, also of Carol and the Aviator) becomes fascinated with Cooper’s schemes.
