Regina K. ‘Tiddles’ Chewning | News, Sports, Jobs


Regina K. “Tiddles” Chewning, 78, a resident of Mabie, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022, at her home. She was in her usual health and death was unexpected.

She was born Jan. 11, 1944, at Cassity, a daughter of the late Berthel and Julya Thomason Cutright.

On Dec. 21, 1963, at Oakland, Maryland, she was married to Robert V. Chewning, who preceded her in death July 26, 2015. They had celebrated 51 years of marriage together.

She is survived by one daughter, Julie Ann LePore and husband, Nick, of Huntersville, North Carolina; and one beloved granddaughter, Alexis Natalia Mejia of Belmont, North Carolina, who was the light of her life; one sister, Susie Whitehead of Tucker, Georgia; one brother, Michael Cutright of Hatteras, North Carolina; and one foster brother, Nelson Chewning.

Also preceding her in death was one infant son; one brother, Berthel “Junior” Cutright; one sister, Rosalie “Mandy” Cox; and several half-siblings.

Tiddles had enjoyed her time working at the Norton Mountaineer Mart, where she made many friends.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until noon, Thursday, June 23, 2022, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Thursday from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jim Tallman officiating.

Interment will be held at the Rowan Memorial Cemetery at Mabie.

The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Regina K. “Tiddles” Chewning.
