Siuslaw Information | Rev. Donald L. Frerichs



FRERICHS—The Rev. Donald L. Frerichs entered his everlasting relaxation on January 5, 2022.

He was born on May 1, 1937, in Hastings, Nebraska. He obtained his schooling at Decatur County (Kansas) High School, St. John’s (Winfield, Kansas) College, Concordia College (Seward, Neb.) and Concordia Theological Seminary (Springfield, Ill.).

He married Eileen Helm on August 23, 1963. Eileen preceded Don in loss of life on April 29, 2021.
Over a 53-year ministry, Don served parishes in Canby, Minn.; Pasco, Wash.; Portland, Ore.; and Florence, Ore. After retiring to Ohio, he started the Protestant worship service at Vitalia of Stow, Ohio.
Donald is survived by his kids, Luke (Tammy) Frerichs, the Rev. Paul (Deborah) Frerichs, Lois (David) Hughey and Matthew (Amy) Frerichs; sisters Norma (Don) Dillon and Shirley Zanta; two nieces; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Services can be held on January 19, 2022, at Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Eric Tritten of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church officiating.

Arrangements are by Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home. Private household committal can be at Silver Spring Cemetery in Stow. Livestream of the service is accessible at www.redeemerlutheran.us.
