University of California will waive tuition and charges for a lot of Native American college students


The University of California system will waive tuition and charges starting in fall 2022 for Native American college students who’re state residents and members of federally acknowledged tribes.

The initiative is a part of the UC Native American Opportunity Plan, which is designed to bolster scholar range and to make the college “more affordable and accessible” for Native American college students, system president Dr. Michael V. Drake wrote in a letter to UC chancellors.

Tuition for brand new undergraduate college students who’re California residents is $13,104 for the 2022-23 college 12 months. The program may benefit about 500 undergraduates and 160 graduate college students, LAist reported.
